The Store Room’s Leeds and Preston self storage sites have been acting as Mission HQ for the local Cash for Kids Mission Christmas campaigns, with our Preston site being involved with the charity for over a decade! We provide space for the Mission Christmas ‘elves’ (staff and volunteers!) to collect, sort, and distribute the donations they receive.
Once again Cash for Kids have completed another fantastic appeal in 2022, and we wanted to reflect and say thank you to everyone involved in making this year great. It has been a privilege to be able to play a small part in making the campaign a success.
For those who don’t know, the Mission Christmas campaign aims to support disadvantaged and young children affected by poverty, and make sure they wake up with a gift on Christmas Day. In 2020-2021, 3.9 million children were living in poverty in the UK, so the work Cash for Kids do to support them is vital.
In 2022 Mission Christmas raised an incredible £14,175,220 across all the UK, which meant that 286,073 children received a gift from Santa on Christmas Day!
Rock FM (in Preston) helped 10,807 children and Pulse 1 (in Leeds) helped 16,000 children. This is an amazing achievement, and The Store Room would like to say a massive well done to the Cash for Kids team, and it has been fantastic to see the generosity from all those who donated, dropped off gifts or did some festive fundraising.
Once again, all of us at The Store Room would like to thank everyone who has given gifts, donated, and volunteered to make Mission Christmas a success. We are particularly impressed with the number of children wanting to help others this year. Nialle and Noah (pictured above) have a family tradition of donating gifts to Mission Christmas on the last day of school – how amazing! Without your support many children would have woken up to nothing this Christmas.
