Supporting Simon on the Streets
- Charity Involvement
Our Leeds self storage team are delighted to reaffirm our continued support for Simon on the Streets, a local, independent charity that provides vital emotional and practical support to people experiencing homelessness across Leeds.

Who are Simon on the Streets?
For over 25 years, Simon on the Streets has been a lifeline for people facing homelessness and poverty, supporting those who are excluded from and /or reluctant to engage with other support services. Their outreach workers meet people where they are, directly on the streets; during the day, in the evenings, and into the early hours, when support is often hardest to find.
What sets them apart is that their help isn't time limited. Whether someone needs support finding accommodation, connecting with a GP or mental health service, or working through addiction and trauma, Simon on the Streets tailors its approach to each individual, for as long as it takes. They work with those rough sleeping, sofa surfing, and anyone who has fallen through the gaps of other services.
They also work with those who have been accommodated to support them to maintain their tenancies and help with budgeting and life skills. Helping them to end the cycle of homelessness by preventing them going back to the streets.
2025 Statistics:
We know that Simon on the Street's work is incredibly important, but here are some statistics to show how much they are supporting our local community.
- 171 male individuals supported
- 104 female individuals supported
- 45 individuals supported to access temporary accommodation
- 36 individuals supported to access permanent accommodation
- 647 individuals accompanied to appointments
- 2,061 welfare checks
How is The Store Room involved?
At The Store Room, we believe our self storage sites should do more than just provide space, they should be part of the local community too. That's why our Leeds site is proud to be a '5 for 5' partner of Simon on the Streets, pledging £500 every year for five years to help fund their essential outreach work.
It's a small commitment compared to the difference it makes. Simon on the Streets relies entirely on donations and volunteers to keep their outreach running, and every pound goes directly back into supporting people in our local communities.
How you can help too
If you'd like to get involved, you can donate on their website. This is what your support could do for someone experiencing homelessness:
- £5 buys a hot drink and a sandwich, helping an outreach worker start a conversation with someone sleeping rough.
- £10 provides hot drinks for 40 people at Simon on the Streets' weekly soup run.
- £15 could fund a phone and credit, keeping someone connected to their outreach worker and their appointments.
- £20 could cover travel costs for someone attending a flat viewing or a benefits appointment.
You don't need to be a business to make a difference. Whether it's a one-off donation, regular giving, or volunteering your time, every bit of support helps Simon on the Streets carry on their essential work.
Head over to the Simon on the Streets website to find out more about how you can get involved, and join us in supporting this incredible local charity.
