As you may know, The Store Room’s Leeds and Preston sites act as Mission HQ for for the local Cash for Kids Mission Christmas campaigns, and our job is make sure the Mission Christmas ‘elves’ (staff and volunteers!) have enough space to collect, sort, and distribute all the donations. In fact, our Preston site has been involved with the charity for well over a decade now!

After another fantastic appeal in 2021, The Store Room wanted to reflect and say a huge thank you to everyone who has been involved this year and to say what a privilege it is to be able play a small part in making the campaign happen.

The Mission Christmas campaign aims to support disadvantaged and young children who are affected by poverty, and make sure that they wake up with a gift on Christmas Day. In 2019-2020, 4.3 million children were living in poverty in the UK – that’s 1 in 3 children.

Every year we are amazed by how generous people are and the fantastic things people do to raise money for the charity. The effects of the past couple of years have meant that Mission Christmas has been needed now more than ever, and thankfully so many people have supported Cash for Kids this year.

Cash for Kids Mission Christmas raised an amazing £13,805,560 across the UK, and this meant that 288,715 children woke up to a gift from Santa on Christmas Day!

Pulse 1 (in Leeds) helped 17,101 children, and Rock FM (in Preston) helped 10,384 children. A massive well done to everyone at the Cash for Kids team, and fantastic to see so many people donating, dropping off gifts or doing festive fundraising to make sure that children wake up to a present on Christmas Day.

We have also been amazed at the number of children who have chosen to get involved – whether it’s raising money and awareness, donating gifts, or even donating their own birthday presents! Children helping children is so heart-warming to see. We want to thank everyone who has given gifts, donated, and volunteered their time to make Mission Christmas successful. Without your support many children would have woken up to nothing this Christmas.
