The Salford team at The Store Room have put together a list of fun things for you to do this festive period! Feel free to take inspiration from our list and add your own ideas too.

Homemade Wreath On Wooden Door

  • Make a homemade Christmas wreath – you can do this by following a tutorial online, or make an evening of it by taking a class.
  • Get your Christmas Decorations out of self storage! Get yourself into the festive spirit by setting up your decorations. Maybe you could do this while listening to your favourite Christmas hits, and hopefully you won’t be sick of them yet!
  • Write Christmas cards or send Christmas ecards to save the environment!
  • Bake some Christmas cookies. There are lots of different Christmas cookie recipes so have a look online and pick your favourite or try out a few different ones. You could even have a Christmas cookie competition with all your friends.
  • Give back to the community. You can volunteer or donate to a local charity, any support you can give will be appreciated. Our friends at Cashforkids are asking people who can, to buy an extra gift to donate to disadvantaged children and ensure they have a present on Christmas morning.
  • Visit Santa and get a photo with him.
  • Wrap up warm and go for a Christmas walk. You could go on a walk in your local area or go and explore somewhere new.

Christmas Hot Chocolate

  • Have a festive hot chocolate with cream, marshmallows and maybe a candy cane if you like them.
  • Watch a Christmas film. Some of the ones we love at The Store Room are The Grinch and The Holiday.
  • Have a game night with friends or family – you could even get Christmassy treats to enjoy while you play.
  • Go to your local Christmas light switch on or a Christmas light event – there are some really lovely Christmas light events, for example Lightopia at Heaton Park in Manchester.
  • Take a spin around an ice rink. Whether you look like a professional ice skater or more like Bambi, ice skating is a fun activity to do with your friends and family.
  • Go to a Christmas festival or fair. These are full of Christmas gift ideas and really get you into the festive spirit. Garden centres can also be great for Christmas inspiration.
  • Create a fun competition, for example who can find the ugliest Christmas decoration?
  • Have a Christmas jumper party (or an ugly Christmas jumper party)!
  • Make a gingerbread house. Get as creative as you like with different chocolate and treats – you could even make a whole snow scene.
