2020 has been a very strange and difficult year for everyone. Here at The Store Room, we thought that we would focus instead on a few positives that have happened over the past year within the company!

Supporting Charities

At each of our 6 sites, our business would not exist without the local community. We aim to build strong relationships with each and every customer, and to make a positive impact in the community. One way that we do this is through supporting local charities:

At both our Leeds and Preston storage sites, we donate storage space to the Cash for Kids charity, and act as Mission HQ. We have worked with this charity for many years, and although 2020 was a particularly unusual year, the charity has continued with their amazing work, and we have been proud to be Mission HQ once again.

As well as continuing our long-standing relationships, at The Store Room we have been actively seeking out other local charities to support. At our Leeds and Bradford sites, we recently initiated a partnership with the charity Simon on the Streets, who offer both practical and emotional support to the homeless community in these areas. Our amazing customers have already shown their generosity – such as Instrument Furniture who made a very generous donation, and Tactical Solutions, who donated a large amount of food items!

We have also supported our NHS heroes, through the Northcare Charity. We donated storage space to the charity, which they used to house donations for NHS staff and patients.

Re-branding Sites

Following the successful rebranding of our Leeds and Leicester sites in 2019, we have been continuing to roll this out across our other locations in 2020. Manchester is currently undergoing its make-over, and is very nearly done! Having had such a positive response at both our Leeds and Leicester sites, we are excited to hear what our Manchester customers think of the new look.

New Staff

This year has seen a number of new staff members join The Store Room team! Emma has joined our Manchester storage site as Assistant Manager, Francesca joined our Rotherham storage site as Assistant Manager, (a different) Emma joined the team at Leicester as Assistant Manager, and finally Olivia has joined as Marketing Associate. When asked about how things have been going so far at The Store Room, Emma (from the Manchester facility) said:

“I couldn’t have asked for a more friendly welcome from all the staff at The Store Room, including the ones from different sites who are always there at the end of the phone if I need any help! I have had full support from everyone whilst learning about the storage industry, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the new opportunities which I have been given. Every day at The Store Room is different, which is another reason why I love this job! I’m looking forward to my future here.”

New Customers

The past year has been very difficult for many businesses. However, at our self storage sites, we have been seeing an increase in the numbers of start-ups and small businesses renting storage space – something that we have already discussed the benefits of! It has been great to see these businesses grow and expand despite the circumstances, and the staff at each of our sites are delighted to have been able to help these businesses out on their journeys.

As 2020 draws to a close, The Store Room would like to say a massive thank you to all of our customers and friends for their continued support. We hope that everybody enjoys the last few days of 2020, and we look forward to seeing everyone again in 2021. Happy New Year!
