What is self storage?

  • Self storage is all about us providing you with a clean, dry, safe and secure area for you to store your property in.
  • We invest massively in the building, the storage rooms and the security systems so that you know your valuable items will be well looked after. We have 24 hr CCTV, intruder alarm systems and full fire precautions to give you full peace of mind.
  • You then rent a storage room from us for a period of time (the size of the storage room and the length of time is completely flexible and is totally dependent on your needs). You only pay for what you need.
  • You store whatever you want in your room (as long as it is legal) and you have the only key to your room.
  • Domestic and business customers can both benefit from self storage.
  • Please remember that above everything else, we care about your items because they are important to you.

Self storage top tips

Before you pack:

  • Make sure you have enough quality boxes, bubble wrap and tape. These are the three most important items you will need to help maximise your storage space and keep costs down. We offer a full range of boxes and packing items, so please take a look at our range before you pack.
  • If you are going to store clothes on their hangers to keep their shape, then you will need a wardrobe box.
  • Clean all garden/outside furniture before packing.

As you pack:

  • If storing tables, remove all legs, where possible, and wrap in bubble wrap.
  • Fill all boxes to capacity to avoid them tipping or collapsing. If you have gaps in boxes, fill them with bubble wrap.
  • Use smaller boxes for heavy items.
  • Protect all fragile items with bubble wrap. Wrap them individually.
  • Label or number all boxes for easy reference and make a list of the contents of each box.

As you load your store room:

  • Plan your storage space carefully. Put items that you need to get to most often near the front of the unit.
  • Leave a small passage between boxes so that you can still get to items at the back.
  • Place heavy or bulky items in the room first. This gives a good base to stack on.
  • Stack similar sized boxes together whenever possible.
  • Stand sofas and mattresses on end, leaving an air gap between them.
  • Do not lean anything against the walls.
  • Stack chairs 'seat to seat'.
  • Place a protective cover over all soft furnishings.
  • Place a dust sheet over the top of all items.
  • Padlock your room!

Don't forget – we have a full range of boxes and other packing materials on site.

Environmental Policy

At the store room we take our responsibility to the environment very seriously and we are always looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint. For example:

  • The storage boxes we sell at our sites are made from at least 75% recycled materials.
  • Over the last year we have switched to an almost exclusively paperless billing system.
  • Lighting within our storage sites is sensor-activated, so there is no chance of lights being left on unnecessarily.
  • All our external and signage lighting is constantly checked to ensure it is coming on and going off at the right times to avoid energy being wasted.
  • We have recently started working with the Carbon Trust to see how we can further reduce our impact on the environment and become more energy efficient....we will keep you updated!
