We never like to let anything go to waste here at the store room, so when Darren Shaw, manager of our Manchester self storage site, was left with a large quantity of excess Velcro from one of his customers, he immediately began thinking what would be the best use for it.
Time went on….and then Darren happened to have a chance conversation with a visitor and found out that Velcro is used extensively as a therapeutic tool for people with Autism.
With this in mind he contacted the National Autistic Society, which as luck would have it, is based in his home town of Manchester.
They told Darren that they could make great use of the material and would definitely be happy to take some off Darren's hands. So the very next day, Darren personally delivered over 30 boxes of Velcro to their base in Northenden, Manchester.
The staff at the Society were extremely grateful, and Darren is pictured shaking hands with one of their staff as he makes the delivery.
