It’s been a roller coaster start to 2014 for us here at The Store Room, with lots of developments to talk about at our self storage sites. In this post we wanted to round up all the great local press coverage we’ve had about what we’ve been up to, so here goes!
Over the last few years our Preston self storage site has supported Rock FM’s various local charity appeals in aid of ‘Cash For Kids’ by donating storage space for the toys that have been collected. In February Rock FM launched ‘Mission Thank You’ where it gave everyone who had been involved with their charity work the chance to say thank you to whoever they wanted to and also let their supporters such as us explain how we had helped them. We were given the chance to do this on Rock FM’s website with our very own page. However that wasn’t all! The team from Rock FM turned up especially at our Preston facility to present Rachel from our team with some flowers and a framed certificate (pictured right) as a thank you for what we had done for the charity. Finally, our manager at the Preston site, Rain, was invited to take over the Rock FM airwaves last week to explain how The Store Room had helped the appeal and also to say thank you to the charity, the supporters and of course our customers. You can listen to what Rain had to say on the radio below:
And here’s another shorter interview, again with Rain:
Due to exceptional demand from local businesses and an upturn in numbers of people moving house, our Leicester storage branch completed expansion work in January to add a further 10,000 sq ft of storage rooms. At the time of writing this, many of the new rooms and workshops have already been snapped up – so it was well worth the investment!
The news of the new rooms that we added in Leicester was covered in a wide range of publications, both inside and outside of the self storage industry. Ian Griffin, business editor of the local daily newspaper the Leicester Mercury covered the story – it was also featured in Inside Self Storage, Mini-Storage Messenger, as well as on US self storage behemoth Extra Space’s self storage news site where it was included by John Stevens in an article about conversions and expansions in the self storage industry.
As well as the expansion at our Leicester branch, we also added significant numbers of rooms to our sites in Leeds and Bradford in order to keep up with the demand from businesses and households in the local area, who are starting to feel more confident in the local economy and in the local housing market respectively.
Our Leeds expansion was covered in: the Yorkshire Post (thanks to Greg Wright, the local business reporter), Inside Self Storage, The Insider, BQ Magazine’s website and finally by our friends at Mini-Storage Messenger.
Our most recent expansion, completed in the last few weeks at our Bradford site was covered on local paper The Telegraph & Argus’ website (with our MD Jeremy smiling for the cameras as per the picture above!) and was also printed in a sidebar in the business section of newspaper itself (see a copy of this on the left of this page). Thanks to their business reporter Chris Holland for including us.
Our friends at Inside Self Storage and Mini-Storage Messenger also included the story on the websites, as they had done for our Leeds and Leicester expansions – a big thank you to Keith and Poppy from the MSM team.
That’s it for now – we’ve got some exciting projects and challenges in the pipeline to talk about over the next couple of months, so please keep an eye on our blog for more updates coming soon. Thanks for reading!
